When I started this painting, I had not intended to paint a rose. I began with the inspiration to paint a pale-pink, misty sky over turquoise water. I left it this way for weeks, knowing that it was incomplete, but uncertain about how to finish it. Upon glancing at it one afternoon, I saw in my mind’s eye a luminous pink rose suspended over the water. The rose represents unconditional love and compassion, a sacred symbol of the divine feminine essence within each of us.
